Tip For A New Website
By Andrew Thomson of Lilys Florist
Let’s say you are a budding new website designer looking to launch your first clients website, one you have completed designing and constructing it – what do you do now? Here are 5 things you should do: 1. Install Google Analytics – you should set up a Google Analytics account and follow the steps, once you have the Google Analytics code you should then paste it to the pages within the site you want to monitor. Google Analytics produces essential statistics on how you are performing in terms of page views, hits, keywords & pretty much anything else you can think of. Best of all though, it is FREE 2. XML Sitemap – use a XML sitemap generation tool so that your site can be crawled, once crawled these results can be submitted to search engines, this can usually be done in places like ‘webmasters tools’ 3. Google Places Listing – setting up a local Google Places business listing is one of the most important things you can do for yours or your client’s website – in fact it is the best local search tools on the planet and again, thanks to Google, it is free. 4. URL Construction – when constructing various URL’s within your website ensure that the URL’s contain some of the keywords you are trying to target. Avoid keyword stuffing! For example, if your site URL was www.canberrafloristshop.com.au and you were trying to target other suburbs in Canberra, you may choose something like http://www.canberrafloristshop.com.au/c/270867/1/mixed-flower-bunches.html 5. Adwords – Create a targeted Adwords campaign that contains the keywords that you have targeted within your website. Stick to a daily budget, choose you maximum ‘cost per click’ carefully & research your competitors thoroughly
